Hen House Ventures
On Thursday, October 10, 2019, the team of Hen House Ventures walked the stage at the Rose Wagner Theater at the Utah Innovation Awards to receive a coveted runner-up title and stunning trophy for Professional Services. While you may be saying, “Only runner up?, why so excited?” Well, this award is a reflection of the status achieved by Hen House from among the many nominees across many technology, business, service, and academic companies.
Hen House Ventures is one of 25 finalists, from several different categories and hundreds of other nominations. Nominees for the prestigious award undergo a strict evaluation process by leaders and peers within the business, civic and academic communities.
This vibrant awards program, now in its 17th year, recognizes community innovations, including entrants from established companies and startups. The awards are designed to build Utah’s economy by rewarding and recognizing the minds fueling innovation. It is presented by Stoel Rives, LLP and Silicon Slopes.
More than 450 representatives from Utah’s technology, business and academic communities attended the Awards Dinner to honor this year’s Utah Innovation Awards’ winners, finalists, and honorable mention recipients.
The statewide program, the first of its kind, is designed to recognize innovations and the pioneering Utah companies that develop them. In addition to Stoel Rives and Silicon Slopes, the program is sponsored by Xact Data Discovery, Kiln., USTAR, Zions Bank, BioUtah, and BoomStartUp and many other local and national business leaders.
The awards program is also supported by the Association of Corporate Growth, Manufacturing Extension Partnership, MountainWest Capital Network, VentureCapital.org, and the Women Technology Council
A committee of more than 80 experts from Utah’s private industry, government and academic communities voted on winners and finalists in each of the program’s eight categories: Clean Technology and Energy; Computer Hardware/Electrical Devices; Consumer Software; Enterprise Software, Cloud and Big Data; Life Science – Biotech; Life Science – Medical Device; Community Innovation and Professional Services; and Outdoor and Consumer Products. Hen House Ventures was a finalist in the Community Innovation and Professional Services category, of which the winner was Incorporate Massage, another woman-led Utah business.
In addition to choosing finalists, the selection committee also identified innovations worthy of honorable mention or that are an early-stage innovation. During the networking portion of the event, Hen House Ventures had the opportunity to talk with many attendees, as well as display our services.
